Teaching Assistant (STEM)


Report to: Fellow & Project Lead

Mission: Teaching assistants assess student performance in the classroom and work with Teach For Vietnam Fellows (teachers) to develop their skills in educating students about STEM. TAs are an important part in developing Teach For Vietnam’s STEM project and ensuring the best outcomes.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting Fellows teaching STEM in classrooms and being able to identify points of improvement
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence, trust, effective relationship-building and team work with all our colleagues
  • Work with Fellows and our teams to identify challenges and solutions within classrooms
  • Work in the class to ensure the students engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity;
  • Support the social and emotional development of students, reporting any issues as necessary; manage challenging pupil behavior; guide and monitor pupil progress;
  • Identifying trends and opportunities for further development of the STEM program in the short, medium and long term


  • At least: 2nd year students (preferable background in STEM, science…)
  • Strong interest in education
  • Preferable teaching experience/ facilitation skills and experience working with children/ young learners before
  • Patient, non – judgmental attitude
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Process-driven and love for learning and operating within multiple contexts and situations
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • Accountable and attention to detail
  • Computer literacy
